They act as great additions to your pool, but they are also great features by themselves, so you do not need a pool in order to get a backyard splash pad. Compared to a pool, they are extremely inexpensive to design and install. They add aesthetic appeal to your yard while also offering a fun way to spend those hot summer days for you and the kids. It makes a lot of sense to get a splash pad, especially in Arizona. You probably have seen something like this at a resort or shopping center but they are becoming more and more popular for residential homes. They are typically slabs of concrete and/or some kind of rubber composite that have water fountains flush with the ground. It is best to discuss with your commercial pool builder when deciding on what surface might be best for your splash pad.Splash pads are backyard features that can act as an additional pool featureor as stand-alone structures. In recent years, resilient synthetic surfacing has emerged with products better suited to withstand sunlight, chlorinated water, and bacteria. This is because it enhances the safety and overall accessibility of the amenity. Surfacing – The most common splash pad surface is usually brushed concrete. However, teens usually like a feature that allows them to subject themselves to 50 gallons of water dumped on them at once. This particular feature would typically appeal to toddlers. One of these features is water that jets upward out of the surface that can be manually aimed through nozzles. For instance, for toddlers, it would be ideal to have a variety in the form of gentle, non-intimidating sprays or mists.įeatures – There are several features that you can include in your splash pad. Splash pads will not serve the full range of users that a pool would. Before consulting with Ohio Custom Pool and Patio, think about the following options for your splash pad.Īudience – Every property might have a slightly different audience that they need to appeal to. Splash pads represent a natural evolution of the backyard sprinkler cool-down concept. Although a splash pad has little or no standing water, they provide a wide range of water-play options. If you own a commercial property and are deciding on creating a splash pad, there are a few factors to consider prior to the installation. When not in use, a splash pad can still add ambiance to your property as a water feature. An environmentally responsible system with features such as control valves, timers, and push buttons, so there is no wasted water.Splash pad structures and elements are designed for ADA Accessibility and interaction. All structures and ground sprays have non-clogging nozzles and are self-draining for easy winterization.Non-corrosive materials with UV resistance and easy to maintain coatings are used. There is little-to-no risk of children drowning in a splash pad. They utilize a zero-depth environment so there is very little to no standing water.Splash pads are less expensive than having a swimming pool installed. When compared to inground swimming pools, splash pads offer several benefits including: Splash pads are being installed in many places now and for good reason. Your encouragement and constant feedback on how to improve our offering have only made our resolve and commitment to these ideals stronger. If they reach an agreement and sanctions against Iran are lifted, export of Indian Basmati to Tehran will re-start.īusiness Standard has always strived hard to provide up-to-date information and commentary on developments that are of interest to you and have wider political and economic implications for the country and the world. Talks between Iran and the US on nuclear agreement also offer hope. Recently Latin America opened its doors to Indian Basmati rice for the first time ever. But experts point out that the export may pick up soon. Efforts should be made to revive its exports, especially since much of the market is slowly shifting towards Pakistan, India’s primary rival in the global Basmati trade. Basmati is one of India's signature food items. Also, the existing challenges in the EU and the possibly new ones in West Asia by no way mean that the appetite for Basmati is dwindling. The jump came as Bangladesh, China and Vietnam increased purchases. According to a report, India's total rice exports saw a jump of nearly 46 per cent in 2021 from a year ago to a record 21.42 million tonnes. It exports non-Basmati rice to African countries and Basmati to the Middle East. India is the world's biggest rice exporter. But, on the other hand, overall rice export has seen a big jump. India’s Basmati exports to the EU have been falling since the region tightened its pesticide residue norms in 2017. This had led to apprehensions that if Indian farmers were not given time to bring about changes in their pesticide use, Basmati exports would take a big hit due to these stringent norms. Adding another blow to Basmati export, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, UAE, and Saudi Arabia adopted pesticide residue norms in 2021 that were on par with those in the EU. One of the most common Basmati rice varieties produced in India does not qualify for duty rebate from the EU. Trade policy analyst S Chandrasekaran told Business Standard that Basmati sales to the EU had dropped to 150,000-200,000 tonnes from 500,000 tonnes a year. Fungicide problems in the European Union is also a big contributing factor. This is due to reduced price differentials. In the last three years, around 20 per cent area has shifted from Basmati to non-Basmati rice in these regions. APEDA Chairman M Angamuthu told Business Standard that in some areas, due to an increase in minimum support price, the Basmati acreage had been overtaken by non-Basmati rice. It was mostly because Iran’s rupee reserves dwindled. Shipments to Iran plunged 26% from a year ago to 834,458 tonnes. Experts have told Business Standard that the reasons for the continued fall in exports include the loss of the traditional market of Iran due to US sanctions. In 2021-22, India exported 3.53 billion dollars worth of Basmati rice, the lowest since 2019-20. This fact has been highlighted by the provisional figures. But for the third consecutive year, exports of Basmati rice saw a fall over the previous year in value terms. India clocked the highest-ever agriculture exports of over 50 billion dollars in FY22. India is still the world’s largest exporter of basmati. Its main producing regions are the states of Punjab and Haryana, along with the foothills of the Himalayas. All of this has made Basmati rice one of India's oldest anchors in farm exports. In India too, biryani or matar pulao cannot be imagined without basmati. Basmati rice is popular due to its long grains, distinctive texture, and rich fragrance. From risotto to Iranian pulao, Indian Basmati has been an essential part of recipes savoured in different parts of the world for ages.
This brings me to another very interesting aspect of Othercide: there’s no healing. This detail adds options and choices, mixing up the flow of basic combat. That's not generally something you want to do, but given the situation, you may actually benefit from using all 100AP so that an adversary doesn’t get a killer attack off. However, if you use even 1 AP over 50, then you go to the back of the line - dead last in the turn order. Usually you can move a little and get a single attack off with 50 AP. If you use 50 AP or less, you’ll move to the midpoint on the timeline at the end of your turn, thus positioning you to act again sooner. Starting with 100, you can move and act in any order you wish. Part of what makes Othercide unique, though, is the way in which it handles your action points (AP). While I would have liked to have seen more variety in mission types, there really is plenty else going on to make up for it.Ī timeline along the bottom of the screen displays turn order and any special attacks that are coming up are clearly marked. Rescue missions are especially rare, as successfully completing them will reward you with a token of resurrection to bring back a fallen Daughter. Missions range from standard Hunts to Rescue and Survival. You can mix and match whichever grouping you like (I preferred two Soulslinger’s and a Blademaster most of the time). Starting classes consist of Shieldbearer (a high-health tank class), Blademaster (melee damage), and Soulslinger (your ranged attacker). Teams are comprised of 2-4 Daughters, depending on the mission type. If you’ve played anything like XCOM before then you’ll feel right at home in Othercide. This is the core of the roguelike mechanic at play. Each death finds them reborn again, in an eternal loop, ready to take up arms and continue the fight once more. The Red Mother is the greatest warrior who ever lived, and her Daughters are echoes of her born to beat back the invading evil, but never truly die. The story of Othercide is a bit convoluted, akin to something like the Souls series, where you’re not entirely sure what’s going on, but if you follow close enough you won't be left completely in the dark. With ever-increasing depth and layers of intricate systems, each new run will see you closer and closer to your final goal - the ending of suffering and death! In a first-of-its-kind, as far as I’m aware, developer Lightbulb Crew has successfully blended a complex turn-based strategy game with layers and layers of roguelike progression. In this brooding world of tactics, you’ll not only need to level-up and strengthen your army of Daughters, but sacrifice them as well for the greater good. With a bold visual style of only black, white, and reds, Othercide achieves a dark and sinister feel with minimal game assets required. It’s time once again to save humanity, and this time you’ll be redeeming it by way of the immortal Daughters of the Red Mother. Aliens and cannibals never crop up to change the story’s parameters, and viewers never learn any more about what happened than the characters know. The arguments they have, and the fallout from them, are the only crisis points in Bokeh. While Riley’s learning to make his own gingerbread lattes at the local coffee shop, she’s trying to sleep through the apocalypse, and as time stretches on, she gets increasingly agitated and unnerved, until their differing approaches reach a series of crisis points. From the start, though, Jenai is more withdrawn about being alone in the world. He can even act out in minor, goofy ways, like taking a shopping cart for an in-store joy ride, or grabbing an unoccupied SUV and tearing through the streets. They’re both unnerved at first, but soon Riley is celebrating the freedom underlying most zombie movies: he can go anywhere he likes, and take anything he wants. Then, just a few minutes into the film, a mysterious green light pulses in the night sky, and Jenai and Riley wake up to discover that everyone else is gone, and they’re alone in Reykjavik. The lack of physical crisis leaves room for emotional crisis, though, and a lot of time for Bokeh’s characters to ask the big philosophical and religious questions about what an apocalypse really means.īokeh starts with a young couple, Jenai ( The Guest’s Maika Monroe) and Riley (Matt O’Leary), on vacation in Iceland, where they make out under waterfalls, soak in hot springs, and drink in the scenery on walking tours. It’s rare to see an apocalypse movie like the gentle indie science fiction drama Bokeh, where the threats are minimal and abstract, and the characters mostly have to worry about how to spend their time after the world ends. For every quiet apocalypse film like On The Beach, there are dozens of manic ones like 28 Days Later or 2012, where the world comes apart abruptly and explosively, and the protagonists are constantly on the run for their lives. But most apocalypses keep the survivors pretty busy. Apocalypse stories let us revel in the idea of replacing all the burdens of modern society with simpler, more visceral problems, like avoiding zombie bites or fighting off road-warrior gangs. At heart, every post-apocalyptic movie is a bit of a wish-fulfillment fantasy. For more information, visit and follow Fleet Farm on Facebook and Instagram. Ok, so when you find a scheme you’re happy with. The thing I really love about this is that often there are colours in images that you don’t even realise are there and you can put together some really lovely colour schemes.Ĩ. You can choose to change as many colours (of the five available) as you want.Īs you drag each point, the colour palette changes. You’ll see how only that particular colour swatch is affected. To create a custom theme, either click on the word Custom or simply click on one of the five colour circles and drag it around your image. If you don’t like any of the colour themes produced by the Color Mood suggestions, you can create your own custom theme. The colours are obviously much darker but are still tied together to form a theme.ħ. For example, by choosing Dark, the colour swatches look like this: If you don’t like this particular set of colours you can change them by choosing from suggested “ Color Mood” options on the left-hand side. The colours it picks are highlighted in circles on the image and appear as giant swatches underneath your image.Ħ. By default, it picks five colours to create a “ Colorful” theme. Once your image is uploaded, you’ll see that right away Adobe Color has chosen five colours from your image. If you live in Ireland, or visited from overseas and have been there, you’ll know Adare is a very picturesque town with a lovely row of thatched cottages and beautiful old buildings in the main street. I’m using a photograph of a thatched cottage in a town called Adare. When the File Upload dialog box opens, choose the photography that you want to upload. You want to Create, so stay on this page and click on the small white camera icon on the right-hand side to choose Create from image.Ĥ. On the menu bar on the top left, there are options to Create, Explore or view My Themes. On the home page of Adobe Color, you’ll see a colour wheel and five giant colour swatches beneath it. If you have CS6 or earlier, you can use the “ Kuler” panel to access “public” colours and use them in your application.ģ. If you’re not a subscriber you can still sign up for free. If you are a Creative Cloud subscriber, log in. By using colours from that photograph you will be able to create a nice, cohesive colour scheme that works well. Let’s say you’re working on a website or design project and you have a particular image that you want to use in the header or as a major part of the overall look and feel. I’m going to show you how to create a set of colours using just one photograph, but produce several palettes which can then be saved and used in Photoshop or any of the other Adobe Creative Cloud products that use swatches. This is one of the features I really love. The really nice thing about it is, when you’ve created your own, or saved someone else’s color theme, as part of the Creative Cloud plan you can use those themes immediately through the Color Panels in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and after I show you how to make a color theme on the website, I’ll show you where you can find them and use them in the individual apps. Once you’ve found a theme that you like you can edit it and save it to your themes, or add it to your swatches in Photoshop. When exploring other people’s color themes you can filter them by Most Popular, Most Used, Random, themes you’ve published, or themes you’ve appreciated in the past. The name has changed but it still works in much the same way. Just as a side note, Adobe Color used to be called Kuler. It’s actually a brilliant tool, as it allows you to create both your own colour schemes and also explore and save other people’s colour schemes and swatches. If you find it difficult to come up with colour schemes or palettes for design work, or if you’re looking for inspiration on colour themes to apply to your designs or photography, then you’ll find the Adobe Color website to be a helpful tool.
